‘Taqa Wilayat Activities’  launched in Dhofar

Muscat: ‘Taqa Wilayat Activities’ as part of the Dhofar Khareef Season, has been launched and will continue until August 15.

Sheikh Tariq bin Khalid Al Hinai, Wali of Taqa, said: “These activities represent an opportunity to highlight the cultural, social and economic heritage of the Wilayat, and aim to enhance sustainable development through several axes as they contribute to enhancing local tourism, attracting visitors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, supporting the local economy and increasing commercial activity.”

He explained that the activities provide support to productive families by displaying and selling their handicrafts, agricultural products and traditional foods, which enable families to achieve additional income and enhance the spirit of work and innovation in society.

He stated that the activities will contribute to creating new job opportunities for young people through various activities organised on the sidelines of the activities, whether temporary job opportunities during the activities period or permanent opportunities through projects launched by participating institutions and companies.

Organised by the Office of the Wali of Taqa, the activities are held in a number of locations, such as the main Al-Farda Theatre which includes a range of cultural and entertainment activities such as marine environment, rural environment, and Omani arts, in addition to the “Energy of Love” operetta and competitions for children and adults.

 The entertainment activities also include beach games, electric games, and several exhibitions such as the Productive Families Exhibition, the Consumer Exhibition, the Heritage Exhibition, and an evening concert on the main Al-Farda stage.
