Ominvest and Outward-Bound Oman to nurture the leadership potential of young Omanis

MuscatOman International Development and Investment Company SAOG (Ominvest) has unveiled "Ominvest Young Shapers" Programme, in partnership with Outward Bound Oman. This initiative will engage 100 young individuals from various backgrounds, including school, university and college students, as well as job seekers, and entrepreneurs. The programme reflects Ominvest's commitment to investing in national talent and fostering leadership skills and self-responsibility among Omani youth.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Balushi, the Group CEO of Ominvest, stated that one of the Group's key objectives is to empower Omani youth, helping them develop their independent personalities and prepare them to become future leaders. This goal aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which emphasizes cultivating economic leadership and developing Omani talent.

He added: "We encourage the youth to make the most of the training programme and take full advantage of the workshops and panel discussions led by experts in the field."

Ominvest Young Shapers programme is designed in collaboration with Global Shaper Muscat Hub to nurture a new generation of Omani leaders to tackle global challenges with the right knowledge and essential soft skills, and to emphasize their expected role in addressing and reducing its negative impacts.

Kicking off next August and spanning over months, the programme includes discussion sessions designed to deepen understanding of an individual's role as a global citizen. Additionally, it seeks to motivate young people to engage in existing volunteer initiatives within the Sultanate of Oman, fostering a greater awareness of how civil society can address global challenges.

Various discussion panels will take place in natural settings to boost young people's skills in exploration and experiential learning. These sessions will focus on personal development, building fundamental skills, raising awareness of global issues, and identifying potential solutions. The programme will also address various environmental and sustainability concerns, the use of natural resources, and social issues impacting young people.

Richard Lewis, the Executive Director of Outward Bound Oman, stated “Through our unique experiential learning courses in the natural environment, we were able to shape a positive change in the lives of more than 25,000 participants. Our programmes are aligned with the objectives of Oman's Vision 2040, and Ominvest Young Shapers programme will allow us to increase awareness of global issues within youth and help them identify possible solutions that will impact their contribution as future leaders in Oman.”
