RAO band wins trophy of Infantry, Military Discipline Competition in Scotland

Edinburgh: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) Music Band won first place in the World Infantry and Military Discipline Competition held in Scotland, United Kingdom.

The RAO band also won fifth place in Dumbarton contest on playing musical instruments. The contest saw the participation of 128 teams from different countries of the world.

Col. Ahmed Salim Al Shukairi, Director of the RAO Music Band, said that Oman took the lead in the World Bagpipes and Drums Competition in Scotland, winning first place in the Infantry and Military Discipline event and fifth place in contest on playing musical instruments. “These results offer strong incentive for the RAO band in upcoming competitions towards the World Music Competition in Glasgow,” he added.

“It has been a successful day,” said Douglas MacAllister, Mayor of Glasgow. “This is the 25th anniversary of the World Music Competition in Scotland and we are proud to once again host this world-class musical event with bands from all over the world, including the Royal Army of Oman, contesting the trophy. We were very impressed with the RAO band’s skills and outstanding performance,” he added.
