Muscat: A Yemeni delegation of Ansar Allah Group and General People’s Congress (GPC) arrived in Oman yesterday morning on their way to the Yemeni Republic after taking part in the negotiations hosted by Kuwait under the aegis of the United Nations (UN) to reach a solution for the Yemeni crisis.
Aref Awad Al Zoka, GPC Secretary General expressed his deep appreciation and thanks to the Sultanate’s Government under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for the honourable circumstances of the Sultanate towards the Yemeni crisis since its beginning, as well as its endeavours to help all parties find a suitable solution for the crisis in Yemen.
He added that the Sultanate’s government and people’s stance towards the Yemeni crisis is not new and history testifies that the Sultanate is a constant supporter of peace and that it is a neighbour in the true sense of the word as it respects and loves its neighbours in the Arab and Muslim countries.
He affirmed that the Yemeni people appreciates the Sultanate’s stance towards the current events witnessed in Yemen.
Al Zoka pointed out that Muscat hosted several meetings to solve the Yemeni crisis and that the Sultanate has played a positive and effective role in the negotiations in Geneva and Kuwait as this may save Yemen from its current condition.
In the same context, Mohammed Abdul Salam Salah Ahmed from Ansar Allah Group affirmed the key role of the Sultanate in supporting peace negotiations under the aegis of the UN, as well as its efforts made since the beginning of the negotiations. He pointed out that the bases for negotiations started from Muscat by the Omani team, which was formed to support the UN pathways in Switzerland and Kuwait negotiations.
He also said: “We are waiting for the UN Envoy to present a comprehensive solution to continue the comprehensive plan for a full solution for the
Yemeni crisis”.
Upon arrival to the Sultanate, the two Yemeni delegations expressed their thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait and his government for the efforts made to reach an accord among the Yemeni warring factions.
