Salalah: Dhofar Municipality today held a press conference during which it announced its upcoming sporting events, including the “Ironman 70.3 Triathlon”, renamed as “Dhofar Municipality Ironman 70.3”.
Dr. Ahmed Mohsin Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, said that Ironman 70.3 triathlon (swim, bike and run) is anticipated by many athletes from around the world who would also get an opportunity to take part in other sports events, including Dhofar Municipality Race, Salalah Half Marathon, “She Runs” and the "Iron Child Race".
For his part, Mohammed Khalfan Al Obaidani, CEO of Middle East Triathlon Company, told reporters that this year’s edition of Dhofar Municipality Ironman 70.3 Triathlon would be held during October 2024, notably in line with a plan aimed to highlight the governorate beyond the Khareef (monsoon) season.
Al Obaidani pointed out that the opening of the Ironman 70.3 racing season in the Middle East will coincide with the conclusion of the season of similar events in the European continent.
As many as 500 players from 56 countries will opt for 40 places set for qualifiers to the “Fun Fast” Ironman 70.3 World Championship” scheduled to be held in Spain in 2025, said Ammar Obed Al Katheri, Director of the Deparment of Events Management, Municipality of Dhofar.
