Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding the request of the United Nations General Assembly to the court on ‘Israeli practices affecting the human rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem”,
Oman also renewed its call on the international community to implement international resolutions and conventions calling for an immediate end to the illegal occupation of the occupied territories and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
In a statement, the Foreign ministry said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed up on the opinion presented by the International Court of Justice regarding the United Nations General Assembly’s request to the Court regarding “Israeli practices that affect the human rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem,” and the resulting confirmation of the illegality of Israeli practices in the occupied territories and the affirmation of the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people.”
“While the Sultanate of Oman welcomes the opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of the practices of the occupying state, at the same time, it renews its call on the international community to implement international resolutions and conventions calling for an immediate end to the illegal occupation of the occupied territories and an end to settlement and the cycle of violence in the Palestinian territories.”
Oman also renews its position calling for granting the Palestinian people their inalienable right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
