Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences today launched a training programme that is implemented by the Royal Oman Police for citizens enrolled in divisions tasked with managing handling operations at land border checkpoints.
The programme, being carried out in partnership with the private sector, seeks to familiarise the participants about relevant regulations, laws and security systems in force and to empower them with the skills needed for performing their duties.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in the presence of Lt. Gen Hassan Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, Inspector-General of Police and Customs.
The programme’s initiative includes assigning handling tasks (in land border checkpoints) to private sector companies.The operational units will be connected via the Bayan system.
The programme will help accelerate customs clearance using the latest equipment, programmes and technologies. It will also streamline procedures, apply innovation standards and improve institutional performance.
