Rakhyut: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in cooperation with Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is carrying out a number of training programmes to boost the camel milk production and its derivatives through empowerment of the productive families in the Niyabat of Asa’ib in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, Dhofar Governorate.
Ahmed bin Salim Al Najar, Director of Livestock Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate, said that the training programme on building the capacities in the field of financial management is currently being supervised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
Another programme to enhance the skills and knowledge of women camel breeders will be executed next week. This programme aims to boost the in-country value added to the camel milk and its derivatives in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, he said, adding that Dhofar Governorate has largest share of camels in Oman, amounting to 60%, according to the statistics of the Ministry for 2023.
He said that the project targets 20 percent of women living in rural areas of the Wilayat of Rakhyut as part of the ministry’s efforts for the development of industries for meat and dairy products.
