Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and Saint Petersburg State University in the Russian Federation signed a cooperation agreement in the field of student exchange programme that includes undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The cooperation agreement includes receiving students from Saint Petersburg State University to study for a semester at Sultan Qaboos University. It provides the opportunity for students of Sultan Qaboos University to study at Saint Petersburg State University with the aim of strengthening the university’s plans for international cooperation and discussing ways of cooperation in areas of common interest.
The agreement was signed on the Omani side by Her Highness. Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant President of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation, and on the Russian side by Dr. Sergey Vladimir, Vice President of Saint Petersburg State University.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Jamal Hassan al-Musawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, Hamoud Salim Al Tuwaih, ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and Ambassador Abdullah bin Hamad Al Riyami, Head of the Department of Cultural Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saint Petersburg State University is one of the oldest and most famous universities in the Russian Federation, as it was founded in the year (1724) by Peter the Great. It is considered one of the leading educational institutions in the Russian Federation.
The university offers a wide range of academic programmes including natural sciences, humanities, Social sciences, engineering, and medicine.
