Duqm: The Special Economic Zone, Duqm is currently executing tourism projects worth over OMR2 million besides several road, electricity, water services and other key projects.
The Wilayat of Duqm is famous for its various tourism potentials including the sands surrounded by rock.
There are famous hotels, resorts and beaches including the beach of at Duqm, the beach of Ras Markaz and the beach of Ras Madraka, which is one of the beaches favoured by tourists and located 80 kilometres from the centre of the Wilayat of Duqm.
The moderate temperatures and the strategic location of Duqm attract tourists for the various types of tourism and relaxation, fishing, surfing and tour s at the rock garden and natural reserves trips.
Duqm has seen during the past years remarkable development which positively reflected on tourism.
The developments included the opening of Duqm Airport, execution of integrated rod network and many hotels, resorts, hotel apartments, restaurants, coffee shops and stores along with the development in transport and logistics sector .
Abdullah bin Salim Al Hakamani, Director of Technical Affairs at the Special Economic Zone, Duqm said that there are over 2,500 rooms offered by hotels, hotel apartments and residential units.
He said that the Special Economic Zone, Duqm is all set to receive tourists heading for or coming from Salalah during the Khareef season.
These preparations included opening some roads for traffic in the Wilayat of Duqm, installation of information boards to guide the tourists to their residences, the beaches and tourism sites and information boards to owners of restaurants, coffee shops and establishments to comply with the terms and measures and to prepare for this season.
