Muscat: The Shura Council today forwarded the draft law on Personal Income Tax (PIT) to the State Council, to culminate the legislative cycle of the PIT bill.
This was unveiled at the 12th regular session of the Shura Council’s first annual convening (2023-2024) during the 10th Term (2023-2027).
The session was held under the chairmanship of Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.
The session also discussed other topics, including a report filed by the committee tasked with education, research and innovation. The report deals with visions on promoting vocational and technical education.
The session also touched on proposals for establishing a wholesale market in the Wilayat of Sohar, as well as views on recovering VAT (value-added tax) levied against a beneficiary’s first residential property.
