14 usufruct contracts signed for investment in Oman's agriculture sector

Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning on Tuesday signed 14 usufruct contracts worth more than OMR8.3 million for investment in the agriculture sector.

The contracts deal with breeding poultry, cultivating frankincense, raising and marketing livestock, beekeeping and growing wheat, coffee and date palm trees. The contracts also include the establishment of a farm for producing figs, papaya fruits and seedlings and another for rearing goats.

These projects are coming up in five governorates: Dhofar, A’Dakhiliyah, North A’Sharqiyah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Muscat.

The contracts were signed by Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing, and representatives of companies and institutions investing in the projects.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, and officials from the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED).
