Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company on Sunday signed an agreement to invest in the lands of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and Omani sports associations and federations.
The agreement deals with constructing facilities opposite the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on an area of 18,000 square metres at a cost of OMR4 million.
The agreement stems from the Ministry’s efforts to explore investment opportunities that generate financial sustainability for the sports associations and federations.
In this drive, the Ministry acts in cooperation with the OOC and the Sports Activities Fund.
The project includes the setting up of commercial, entertainment and service facilities to serve the local community and visitors.
Besides its designs that reflect Oman's architectural heritage, the project comprises a fuel filling station that uses renewable energy, an area for charging electric cars, an integrated world-class vehicle service centre and smart office spaces available for investors in the heart of Muscat, the capital city.
The agreement was signed by Basil Ahmed Al Rowas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports, and Eng. Hamad Salim Al Maghdari, CEO of Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company.
