Muscat: A group of foreigners were arrested for performing unlicensed cosmetic surgeries in the Sultanate of Oman.

A joint team from the Ministry of Health, the Consumer Protection Authority , and the Royal Oman Police was able to raid more than one site and arrested a number of unlicensed foreign workers performing Botox and filler injections. Large quantities of syringes and medical materials stored in an unsafe manner were also seized, in addition to not being licensed by the competent authorities.

The competent authorities have detained the violators in preparation for referring them to the judicial authorities. A team from the Quality Control and Patient Safety Department at the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions and judicial officers from the Consumer Protection Authority were also able to arrest unlicensed female workers in an apartment in Qurm performing Botox and Filler injections. They also seized large quantities of syringes and medical materials stored in an unsafe manner, and the police detained the violators to complete legal procedures.

The Ministry of Health calls on citizens and residents to go only to government or licensed private centres to receive health care services.

The Ministry warned of the great risks arising from receiving health services in places that are not licensed and prepared for this purpose and from unhealthy categories, which may result in serious complications, transmission of infectious diseases, injection of adulterated materials, and other challenges that must be avoided.

The Ministry calls for reporting these violations to its specialists or to the General Authority for Consumer Protection.

The Ministry of Health affirms that the safety of citizens and residents is one of its priorities and that of its partners, and it will not hesitate to deal legally with anything that might disrupt or harm public health.
