First day of Eid Al Adha likely on this day in Oman

Muscat: It is expected that the first day of Eid Al Adha 2024 in the Sultanate of Oman will fall on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Based on Royal Decree No. (88/2022) specifying official holidays, the Eid Al Adha holiday in the Sultanate of Oman will begin from the 9th to the 12th of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, that is, from Saturday, June 15, 2024 until the Tuesday, June 18. 2024.  

The international Astronomical Center said that many Islamic countries began the month of Dhul-Qi'dah on Friday, May 10, 2024 and among these countries are Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Morocco, and Ghana.

These countries will see the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on Friday, June 7, so that the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah will be on Saturday, June 08, or Sunday, June 9, and the first day of Eid Al-Adha will be on Monday, June 17, or Tuesday, June 18.

Since the sighting of the crescent moon on Friday, June 7, is possible with the naked eye in most countries in the world. It is expected that all of these countries will begin the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on Saturday, June 8, and Monday, June 17, will be the first day of Eid Al-Adha.    

While the majority of Islamic countries began the month of Dhu al-Qa`dah on Thursday, May 9, these countries will see the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on Thursday, June 06, so that the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah will be Friday, June 7, or Saturday, June 8, and the first day of Eid al-Adha will be on Sunday. June 16 or Monday, June 17. Since on Thursday, June 6, the moon will set several minutes after sunset in the center and west of the Islamic world. It is not unlikely that many of these countries will begin the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on Friday, June 7, so that Sunday, June 16, will be the first day of Eid al-Adha.
