Oman participates in Arab-China Cooperation Forum’s 10th ministerial session

Beijing:The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 10th session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, held today at the Hospitality Palace in Beijing, the People's Republic of China.

The forum was opened by Chinese President Xi Jinping in the presence of a number of Arab leaders, foreign ministers and government representatives.

Oman’s delegation to the meeting was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.

This meeting, which marked the 20th anniversary of the forum’s opening in 2004, looked into the progress made in framing joint cooperation, future prospects of common interests and the coordination of positions towards regional and international issues, especially the Palestinian cause.

In a speech at the meeting, Al Harthy commended the ties of strategic partnership based on cooperation between Arab states and the People’s Republic of China, as well as relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China.

Al Harthy valued the honourable position of the People’s Republic of China in rejecting the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, supporting the Palestinian cause and urging the rest of the international parties to follow the same path in order to achieve a just, comprehensive and sustainable solution to this issue. He also called for realizing the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative on the implementation of the Two-State Solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders, with Al Quds A'Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
