Muscat: The integrated global energy group OQ, will showcase its digital transformation journey at the 33rd Comex Global Technology Show, taking place from the May 27-30.
As a key player in digital transformation, OQ will highlight its 2023 achievements, showcasing innovations that enhance competitiveness and sustainability through the utilisation of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. Key presentations will include advanced digital solutions across the entire energy value chain and plans for integrating cutting-edge technologies into its facilities.
These efforts align with OQ's commitment to driving digital transformation in the energy sector and supporting the acceleration of e-government initiatives as part of Oman Vision 2040. OQ is committed to adopting advanced technologies, forming partnerships with leading global institutions, localising these technologies in Oman, and fostering the growth of SMEs and national technical capabilities.
Maryam bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Vice President of Integrated Digital Solutions at OQ, outlined OQ’s digital transformation strategy, which aims to drive growth through digital innovation and enhanced competitiveness, while achieving sustainability through advanced technologies. She highlighted significant achievements in 2023, including the establishment of the ‘Digital Factory’, an initiative that aims to store data within Oman, create a cloud-based infrastructure and develop a digital roadmap for each subsidiary to integrate modern technologies into their operations, keeping pace with rapid technological advancements.
She also noted the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation (RPA), and AI-based health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) monitoring. Looking ahead to 2024, OQ plans to expand its AI video analytics projects, enhance predictive maintenance solutions, and implement more generative AI applications in legal and operational areas. OQ has launched the SAP Concur platform, becoming the first entity in Oman to enable employees to complete logistical procedures via electronic platforms and mobile phones for travel and expense management.
Additionally, OQ plans to sign a service contract for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or drone-based services that utilise AI and image analysis to mitigate HSSE risks, increase flexibility and productivity and address challenges in digital transformation.
OQ has made significant progress in integrating modern technologies by launching various projects, such as digital warehouses and AI applications for predictive maintenance in facilities, factories, and refineries. Automation of technical processes has also been achieved, using machines to perform daily tasks in factories, thereby enhancing work accuracy, technical reporting, and 24/7 operations.
