His Majesty the Sultan visits Jordan Museum

Amman: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, accompanied by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, today visited the Jordan Museum in Amman as part of His Majesty the Sultan’s “State Visit” to the Kingdom.

Immediately upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and the King of Jordan to the Jordan Museum—accompanied by Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan, the monarchs were received by Princess Sumaya bint Al Hussein, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Museum.

His Majesty the Sultan toured the Museum and listened to a comprehensive statement about the edifice’s exhibits dating back one and a half million years ago. The monument showcases the historical legacy of the land of Jordan, from the Palaeolithic era (the Old Stone Age) until the present time.

His Majesty the Sultan was briefed about key archaeological collections on show, like Ain Ghazal statues, considered the oldest human statues in the world, and many other valuable historical discoveries using interactive museum display methods. He also took note of models of human innovation and methods to address challenges of life and the environment, including water harvesting systems, agricultural techniques and innovative building materials.

At the conclusion of the visit to the museum, His Majesty the Sultan signed the museum’s VIP Register in which he expressed his delight at visiting the museum and observing its collectibles and antiquities that narrate the ancient history of Jordan. His Majesty valued the museum’s data, knowledge and educational programmes aimed at preserving Jordan’s heritage. Then, he thanked those in charge of the museum.

His Majesty the Sultan accepted a memento from the museum’s superintendents.

His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied during his visit to the Jordan Museum by Prince Faisal Ibn Al Hussein (Head of the Mission of Honour), and members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty.
