His Majesty's visit to further boost bilateral relations between Oman and Kuwait

Muscat: The bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait witnesses tangible development in all spheres, which reflects the deep and strong historic, cultural, political and economic ties between the two countries.

The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to Kuwait on Monday and his meeting with Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, translates the deep and strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait set an example in handling the regional and international issues. In 2003, a joint committee to work on boosting the bilateral relations in the various spheres between the two countries was formed and a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in the various fields had been signed.

The economic relations between the two countries are remarkably developing following execution of joint projects in the Special Economic Zone Duqm (Sezad) including the Duqm Refinery project.

The Omani-Kuwawit Joint Committee held its latest meeting in March 2023 chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Salim Abdullah Al Jabir Al Sabah , former Foreign Minister of Kuwait, with the participation of a number of senior officials from the two countries.

Dr. Saleh bin Amer Al Kharousi, the Sultanate’s ambassador accredited to Kuwait said that the visit of His Majesty the Sultan to Kuwait is of special and remarkable significance in terms of boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries in the various spheres.

He also pointed to the continued coordination between the two countries in several regional and international issues.

The economic relations also enjoys great attention between the two sides, he said pointing out that Duqm Refinery was opened under Royal Care from His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness Emir of Kuwait, last February, in a joint venture valued at $9 billion, which is the biggest joint Gulf investment.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Madhi, ambassador of Kuwait accredited to the Sultanate, said that the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik will enhance the distinct relations between the two countries.
