OCCI delegation visits Singapore to strengthen trade, investment

Muscat: A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) commenced its visit to the Republic of Singapore yesterday.

The visit is aimed at boosting trade and investment between the two countries, mainly related to the private sector and exchange of expertise in various spheres.

Mustafa bin Ahmed Salman, Member of the Board of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chairman of the Finance and Insurance Committee, said that the visit aims to explore trade and investment opportunities between the Sultanate of Oman and Singapore.

The visit comes following the signing of several agreements between the two countries in the economic field during the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Singapore in December 2023, he added.

He said that the delegation would be acquainted with the latest developments in the field of agriculture, industries, technologies, food security, urban planning, finance and banking fields among others.

During the visit, the delegation would review the investment opportunities in the field of real estate development and attraction of more investments to the Sultanate, he added.

He also pointed that the trade exchange between the two countries amounted to OMR767.6 million by end of 2023 and the number of Singapore’s companies in Oman amounted to 24 with total investments of over OMR55 million.

The delegation comprises 25 members of the board of OCCI and chairpersons of the committee and representatives of SMEs.
