Housing ministry signs contracts worth more than OMR12.5 million

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning on Wednesday signed 62 usufruct contracts in the agriculture and industry sectors with an investment value exceeding OMR12.5 million.

The contracts were signed in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED).

Seven of the contracts were signed for the implementation of projects based on the outputs of food security laboratories. They had an investment value of more than OMR1.5 million. The projects will come up in the governorates of Al Dakhiliyah, Dhofar and South Al Batinah. They will enhance food security and contribute to the growth of the agriculture sector.

Five of the contracts also were allocated for agriculture projects awarded through Tatweer platform. They had an investment value of more than OMR2.6 million. They will be implemented in the governorates of Al Buraimi, Dhofar and Al Dhahirah.

Four of the contracts were signed to establish branches for Oman Agricultural Association in the governorates of Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, North A’Sharqiyah and South A’Sharqiyah.

Twenty-eight of the usufruct contracts were signed for implementation of projects to grow wheat in Al Najd area in the Governorate of Dhofar. They had an investment value of more than OMR5.6 million.

Small and medium enterprises

The contracts also included 12 contracts allocated to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Governorates of South Al Batinah and A’Dakhiliyah. They had an investment value of more than OMR998,000. The projects, which will cover a total area of more than 6,000 square metres, will serve the industrial and commercial sectors.

Six usufruct contracts were signed for the implementation of investment and development projects in the governorates of South Al Batinah, A’Dakhiliyah, North A’Sharqiyah and Dhofar. With an investment value of more than RO 1.7 million, the contracts will serve the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The contracts were signed by Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing, in the presence of Eng. Yaqoub Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries. -ONA
