MUSCAT: HH Sayyid Azzan bin Kais Tarik Al Said was on Sunday elected unanimously as the new chairman of the Oman Golf Association (OGA) for a four-year term (2024-28) at the general assembly of the sports association.
Sayyid Azzan succeeds long-time chairman Mundhir Al Barwani, who was the chairman of the OGA since its formation.
The other elected OGA board members are Faiz Mohammed Riaz as vice-chairman, Ahmed Al Jhdhamy as general secretary and Nikhil Sampat as treasurer.
The board members comprise Ghalib Al Busaidi, Mubarak Hill and Jumana Al Ghadani.
Speaking after his election as OGA chairman, Sayyid Azzan, who is also the vice-chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee
(OOC), said: “We will continue to work for the development and modernisation of the federation’s work. We will try our best to enhance the spread of golf in the Sultanate of Oman. We will focus on bringing more men and women in different age-groups to play the game and add more clubs as members.”
He added: “We will work hard to raise the level of our national team players so that they can bring laurels for the country at regional events.”
