Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,704.08 points, down by 0.28 percent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.56 percent at 443.67 points.
Al Hassan Engineering, up 46.67 percent, was the top gainer while, Takaful Oman, down 3.77 percent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 830 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.92 million, with more than 17.55 million shares changing hands. Out of 54 traded securities, 10 advanced, 20 declined, and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR417,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR315,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR102,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,621.35 points, down 0.67 percent. Prices of Taageer Finance were up by 1.91 percent respectively. Prices of Takaful Oman, Ahli Bank, Oman United Insurance, Muscat Finance, Global Financial Investments were down by 3.77 percent, 3.15 percent, 2.08 percent, 1.92 percent, 1.41 percent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,770.92 points, up 0.47 percent. Prices of Al Hassan Engineering, Galfar Engineering, Muscat Thread Mill, Oman Cement were up by 46.67 percent, 5.22 percent, 3.09 percent, 2.22 percent respectively.
Prices of Voltamp Energy, Al Maha Ceramics, Al Anwar Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Products were down by 1.45 percent, 0.65 percent, 0.55 percent, 0.37 percent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.17 percent before closing at 1,839.67 points. Prices of Muscat Desalination, Phoenix Power, National Gas, Majan College, Oman Telecom were up by 2.60 percent, 1.64 percent, 1.19 percent, 0.92 percent, 0.58% respectively. Prices of Barka Water & Power Company, Dhofar Generating, SMN Power Holding, OIFC, Al Maha Markting were down by 2.78 percent, 2.35 percent, 2.33 percent, 2.20 percent, 1.96 percent respectively.
