Tent pegging: Oman finish third in Sudan, qualify for ITPF World Cup

Muscat: Oman tent pegging team qualified for the second International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) World Cup when they clinched third place at the Group III Qualifiers of the World Cup in Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
The ITPF World Cup will take place in Cairo, Egypt in April. The Sultanate squad won the second place at the inaugural World Cup organised in Oman in 2014.
In Khartoum, the qualifying event was organised from January 19 to 23. Besides Oman and hosts Sudan, the other teams that took part in the qualifiers were Yemen, Russia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar and USA.
For Oman, Ali bin Khamis Al Balushi and Safwan Al Mamari won the silver medal in round six. In round seven of lance competition, Ali Al Balushi won the bronze medal.
In the overall standings Sudan finished on top with 748.5 points, followed by Jordan (687 points), Oman (683.5) and Yemen (667). All four teams qualified to the World Cup finals.
