Muscat: A large number of hotels in Oman have registered around 100 percent occupancy during the Eid Al Fitr holidays which is beginning from Tuesday in Oman.
Major hotel industry officials say that foreign tourists from the neighbouring countries like UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are flocking to Oman due to more competitive hotel rates, exquisite dining options and various indoor activities designed during the Eid Al Fitr holidays. Though outbound travel is exceptionally strong at the same time, staycations have also become quite popular in Oman in the past few years.
Oman Across the Ages Museum
Oman Across the Ages Museum has launched an electronic reservation (e-booking) platform to facilitate access for people wishing to visit the museum’s galleries during Eid Al Fitr holidays.
Al Qassim Abdullah Al Fahdi, In-charge of the office of the museum’s Director-General, said that the launch seeks to regulate and accommodate the large number of visitors to the facility, which requires many administrative and security measures.
The museum will explain the e-booking procedures via its accounts on social media platforms.
Visitors to the museum can also book directly by visiting the reception area. The museum extended visit hours for members of the public during the Eid holidays from 9 am to 7 pm, said Al Fahdi, adding that the museum will be open to visitors on the second and third days of the Eid.
Safari World
One of the most anticipated events this Eid is the opening of Safari World, Oman’s largest zoo in the wilayat of Ibra.
Director of Safari World, Khalfan Said Al Maamari, unveiled the scale of the venture, revealing that the zoo sprawls across an impressive 286,000 square metres, promising to showcase over 300 types of animals.
Initially, Safari World will debut its first phase, covering an expansive 120,000 square metres.
The zoo promises a wide array of wildlife, including majestic tigers, zebras, lions, deer, various birds, household pets, apex predators, and rare animals like the Arabian oryx. Al Maamari underscored the commitment to recreating natural habitats for each species on display.
Safari World stands as a pioneering project in Oman, aligned with the vision outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Hotels
Arup Singh Deo, Director of Operations and Projects at Al Nahda Hotels & Resorts, which manages Al Nahda Resort & Spa in Barka and Jabal Akhtar, pointed out that occasions such as Eid are usually driven by last minute bookings, but, over the past weeks, the group has already started seeing an increased demand.
“Long weekends in Oman always invigorate domestic tourism. Most of our rooms are already reserved during the Eid holidays,” he said.
Oman’s rich landscapes
Oman’s geological diversity, rich landscapes, and unique heritage offer residents and visitors a wealth of variety to choose from.
Topping the list for many is certainly the pristine coastline, extending from the beaches of Musandam to Dhofar.
There are plenty of resorts waiting to welcome travellers throughout the festive period. Earning a special place on the list of many beachgoers is the coast of Ras Al Jinz, where the rare Green Turtle is known to nest seasonally.
Joining the long list of coastal favourites are the historic strongholds dotting the Sultanate, which have continued to inspire people from around the world.
Chief among them are the stunning Bahla Fort, the largest in the country and a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Site, as well as Barka Fort.
