New mobile app launched for parents to monitor school children in Oman

Muscat: Tracking a child’s performance at school just got easier for parents in Oman, thanks to a new mobile app developed recently by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Parents can track the days when their children were absent from the school, their discipline and exam results through the free app.
Talking to the Times of Oman, an official at the MoE said parents can log into the app using the username and password as provided by the ministry’s Educational Portal website.
Wali Al Amr (The parent) app was launched on January 13 and can be downloaded for free on Android. “This app offers parents a better view and engages them with the ongoing education of their children,” said Awatif Al Lawati, a former teacher.
The app offers a variety of personal information, including discipline-related cases, performance reports and the weekly time table in addition to latest updates on school events and activities. A section in the app also facilitates transfer requests for parents who want to shift their kid to another school.
To register for the app, parents can simply text their ID numbers to 90390 in order to receive the username.
Only two weeks after the app went officially live on Google Play, more than 10,000 people have downloaded it.
