Tender issued for major recreational project in Dakhiliyah

Nizwa: The Secretariat General of the Tender Board has announced a tender for construction of Al Dakhiliyah Square, a part of the ‘Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard’ project.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate intends to establish this project in the Wilayat of Nizwa under sustainable vision and is designed to emerge a service, investment, entertainment, cultural, health and environment development project.

The completion period of the project shall be two years and would be established in a total area of 145,000 square metres and includes 10 investment areas and 50 usufruct (land lease) contracts encompassing various sectors. The project on completion is expected to attract 944,000 tourists and visitors annually and is would provide 340 job opportunities.

Sheikh Hilal bin Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah said that the Al Dakhiliyah Square project will be in the form of an open square with an entertainment centre at a strategic location in the Wilayat of Nizwa and includes open theatres and exhibitions for hosting the various events, festivals and gatherings.

He said that the Square’s walkway is 3,985 metres in length with green areas and spaces for cycling for a length of 1,650 metres. The project also includes an open area of 80,000 square metres and a dedicated area for children games besides pathways, cafes and a space for writers  and entrepreneurs, with an area for restaurants and kiosks, he further added.

The revenues of the project are expected to reach OMR250, 000 including direct revenues estimated at OMR135, 000 generated from leasing of facilities, exhibitions, events and festivals.  

He further pointed out to that the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah aspires for the support of the corporate sector for supporting the project with clean and renewable energy and construction of some facilities, services and provision of investment opportunities for the project.
