Muscat: Better infrastructure of the tourism sector would enhance the experience of tourists and citizens during the Eid Al Fitr holidays in the various governorates of the Sultanate.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has improved the investment environment for establishment of new hotels.
Haitham bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that the hotel establishments offer stay packages that fit with culinary delights of the occasion. They also arrange entertainment activities for kids and adults.
The statistics issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism showed that the number of hotel establishments amounted to 813 with 32,821 rooms by the end of 2023 compared to 674 establishments with 30,332 rooms in 2022.
The number of five-star hotels amounted to 29 with 6,267 rooms while the number of four-star hotels amounted to 40 with 6,459 rooms.
The number of three-star hotels amounted to 57 with 4,827 rooms, the number of two-star hotels amounted to 74 with 4,245 rooms while the number of one-star hotels amounted to 91 with 2,938 rooms.
Hotels in the Sultanate of Oman offer different types of experiences, including the stay in camps which amounts to 24 camps with 704 rooms and the guesthouses amounting to 39 with 633 rooms.
Dr. Al Mutasim bin Nasser Al Hilali, Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in South Al Batinah Governorate, said that South Al Batinah Governorate is known for its strategic location and its coasts at the Sea of Oman, make it an ideal destination for different types of tourism.---ONA
