Tropical storm Vayu about 1,400 kms from Oman coast

Muscat: The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has announced that the centre of the tropical storm classified as Vayu, is now 1,400 kms from the coast of Oman.
According to PACA, the tropical system located in the Arabian Sea is moving in the northwest direction along the western coast of India. “Most likely it is going towards India,” an official at the PACA said on Tuesday.
Jason Nicholls, Senior Meteorologist and Manager of International Forecasting at AccuWeather.com said: “Cyclonic storm Vayu will strengthen to a severe cyclonic storm late Tuesday or Wednesday. Vayu could strike the Gujarat coast of India on Thursday. Dry air should erode the rain shield late this week so rainfall, if any, will be limited in Rajasthan and south east of Pakistan. Wind speed is expected to reach almost 110-120 kmph gusting to 135 kmph in the early morning of June 13.”
Forecast
In its 24-hour outlook, the Meteorological Department of Oman said: “Mainly clear skies over most of the Sultanate with chances of cloud development over Al Hajar Mountains towards Wednesday afternoon and chances of clouds advection over Dhofar governorate.”
The sea will be moderate along the Arabian sea coasts with maximum wave height of 2 metres and along Oman coasts with maximum wave height of 1.5 metres.
