OETC signs pacts worth OMR322mn to expand power transmission network

Muscat: Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) celebrated on Sunday the signing of the agreement of the ‘strategic project (Rabt, Phase 2) and the projects on expanding the electricity transmission projects in Dhofar Governorate at a cost of OMR322 million.

The celebration was organised at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), under the patronage of Dr. Mansour bin Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation.

The ceremony included the signing of agreements with Larsen and Toubro, Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC), Zawawi Powertech Engineering and Bahwan Engineering.

The OMR257 million Rabt, Phase 2 project includes the establishment of three power stations with the capacity of 400 kilovolts and overhead power lines with capacity of 400 kilovolts for over 590 kilometres.

The project is aimed to connect the main transmission network with the Dhofar electricity network through establishment of transmission lines between Duqm industrial station (400/ 132 KV) and Dhofar power station (400/ 132 KV) which will be established within the project in the Wilayat of Salalah.

This is in addition to the establishment of Shaleem Electricity Transmission Station.

The project also includes establishment of electricity transmission lines (400 KV) to two wind power stations at Ras Madraka (300 megawatts)  and Harweel area (200 megawatts)  besides connection of Thamrait station (400/ 132 KV). The project is scheduled to be completed by 2027.

The OMR65 million electricity transmission network projects in Dhofar Governorate include electricity transmission lines (132 KV) for 269 kilometres to connect Wilayat of Al Mazyoona with the Niyabat of Shahb Asaib besides establishment of three electricity transmission stations (132 KV). The project is scheduled to completed by 2025.
