Dar Al Atta’a launches two programmes for renewable energy and water treatment

Muscat: Dar Al Atta’a Association has launched two programmes in San’a Bani Ghafar within the Al Khaburah region, in a neighbourhood named ‘Hay Al Ata’a’, targeted to support families previously affected by Cyclone Shaheen.

In partnership with bp Oman and Nafath Renewable Energy, the first programme aims to provide 10.5 kW solar energy systems to 36 houses, 20 kW to a mosque and a multipurpose hall, as well as 10 solar-powered street lighting units.

Maryam Al Zadjali, Member of the State Council and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Association remarked, “We are delighted for our partnership in implementing these programmes, given its prominent and sustainable role in reducing operational costs for the beneficiaries. This contributes to environmental conservation and raises awareness in the community about the importance of green energy.”

This environmentally friendly system is expected to displace approximately 640 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and toxic substances annually as well as reduce the electricity costs in general, aligning with comprehensive environmental goals aimed at promoting the use of renewable energy.

In partnership with bp Oman and 4 Elements, the second programme, ‘Kubota Jokhasou’, focuses on installing a decentralised wastewater treatment system capable of producing 1.4 cubic meters of treated water daily, promoting sustainable reuse practices.

Moosa Al Khatri, General Director of 4Elements said: "We are thrilled to launch the 'Kubota Johkasou' programme, which reflects our commitment towards sustainability. Our main aim is to become a pioneer in water reuse, establishing a benchmark for responsible resource management. Moreover, through this initiative, we aspire to foster positive consumption habits to build a greener future by adopting sustainable practices."
