Emergency surgery of a three-year-old conducted

Al Rustaq: A specialised team at the Surgery Department of Al Rustaq Hospital, South Al Batinah Governorate, managed to conduct an emergency surgery of a three- year old child.

Dr. Redha Abdulfatah, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Al Rustaq Hospital, said that the male child was brought to the hospital after detection of a tumour in the lower abdomen with continuous pain.

After examinations,the child was found to have a serious strangulated hernia of the intestine thatrequired immediate surgery to save his intestine. He stressed that parentsshould exercise utmost care and consult specialised doctors in case their kids, mainly under one year of age, are noticed to have tumour or pain in the lowerabdomen.
