Oman's Consulate in India issues notification for people seeking medical treatment

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's Consulate General in Mumbai has received several reports about citizens' exposure to exploitation and fraud by some hospitals.

The Embassy said in a notification:” The Consulate received several reports from citizens about their exposure to exploitation and fraud by some hospitals and physical therapy centres in collusion with translators, which unfortunately led to direct harm to their health and endangered their lives, some of which led to deaths, not to mention the increase and exaggerated treatment costs."

"Accordingly, the Consulate advises those seeking treatment in India to exercise caution, not to be led by advertisements and propaganda campaigns of all kinds, to stay away from intermediaries such as translators, to be careful in choosing hospitals for treatment, to ensure that they provide their services on the ground, and to review the Comprehensive treatment plan and agreeing to set a ceiling on the cost. As a commitment to serving citizens abroad, the Consulate General in Mumbai - Health Attache - welcomes all your inquiries."

The Consulate General in Mumbai reiterates the need to review and adhere to the guidelines contained on its website www.fm.gov.om/mumbai
