Modern College of Business and Science and Oman Center for Governance and Sustainability sign a cooperation agreement

Within the framework of fruitful cooperation between the government sector and the private sector and due to the significance of collaborating between the two sectors in spreading awareness about the concepts of ‘governance’ and ‘sustainability’ in the Sultanate of Oman, a cooperation agreement was signed between Modern College of business and Science (MCBS) and Oman Center for Governance and Sustainability (OCGS). The agreement was signed by Dr. Moosa bin Abdullah Al Kindi, MCBS’s Dean and Sayyid Hamid bin Sultan Al Busaidi the Executive Director of OCGS.

The agreement aims to establish a strong partnership between MCBS and OCGS, with the purpose of exchanging experiences, knowledge, and joint work in the fields of governance and sustainability.

The partnership focuses on enhancing awareness of the importance of achieving sustainable development goals and maximizing the college’s role in achieving this through its academic programs, specialized centers, and research activities, in cooperation with its international partners. Modern College of Business and Science is a Communicative Signatory of the United Nations Initiative for the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME).

In addition, MCBS has recently signed the Sustainable Development Goals Agreement (The SDG Accord) with the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) to be part of the international collective movement of higher education institutions to achieve the sustainable development goals. The signing ceremony included the inauguration by Sayyid Hamid Al Busaidi of the college’s membership in the EAUC agreement. Accordingly, MCBS begins a new chapter in working to achieve sustainable development goals at the international level.

The agreement includes implementing joint initiatives to support sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman and conducting joint research in the areas of governance and sustainability of common interest. The agreement will also provide training opportunities for college students in areas related to governance and sustainability.

Dr. Moosa bin Abdullah Al Kindi, Dean of MCBS, expressed his happiness for signing the agreement, saying, “This agreement is considered an opportunity to achieve tangible progress in the areas of governance and sustainability, and in enhancing cooperation between the government and private sectors in this crucial field.” For his part, sayyid Hamid bin Sultan Al Busaidi, the Executive Director of the OCGS, expressed the importance of strategic partnerships with various institutions that serve the center’s role and work.

It is expected that this partnership will contribute to enhancing scientific research and developing creativity in the fields of governance and sustainability and enabling students and researchers to benefit from the resources and expertise available at the college and the center. The partnership will also contribute to enhancing awareness of the importance of governance and sustainability among youth and the local community through organizing joint events, conferences and workshops.

This agreement is an important step towards achieving the sustainable development goals in the Sultanate of Oman and strengthening its position as a leading center in the fields of governance and sustainability in the region. The joint efforts between MCBS and OCGS are expected to lead to positive and tangible results in the areas of scientific research and sustainable development, and to enhance cooperation between the government and private sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
