Muscat: A one thousand rial fine will be imposed on those distributing (smokeless) chewing tobacco as per the Public Authority for Consumer Protection’s (PACP’s) amended decision 256/2015.
The PACP issued a decision forbidding the distribution of chewing tobacco as Decision 256/2015 but have now issued an amendment to that.
The PACP Decision 301/2016, article 1 states: “The statement in article 2 of Decision 256/2015 shall be replaced with the following: ‘An administrative fine of OMR1,000 shall be imposed on all those who violate the laws of this decision and shall be doubled if repeated.
“If the violation persists, a fine of OMR50 shall be imposed per day that it continues, until an amont of OMR2,000 is accumulated.
“Chewing tobacco (smokeless) confiscated by the PACP shall be destroyed according to set standards.”
