MTCIT pays private sector dues worth over OMR 216 million in 2023

MuscatThe Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has paid more than OMR 216 million from the private sector’s dues for existing development projects supervised by the Ministry during the year 2023.

The ministry's total financial revenues amounted to about OMR 30 million at the end of 2023, an increase of 66 percent compared to 2022.

 Fahd bin Salem Al Hinai, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that the Ministry is keen to pay the private sector’s dues as soon as the documentary cycle is completed through the unified financial system of the Ministry of Finance. The financial payments for projects were in the field of constructing and maintaining roads, repairing damage to the road network as a result of recent climate events, digital transformation projects, and initiatives in the communications and information technology sector.

 Al Hinai said that the Ministry implemented 230 programmes and training workshops during the year 2023, which varied between specialised, general administrative, and technical programs, leadership programs, and distance training programs, and participation in internal and external training workshops, from which more than 1,916 male and female employees from various divisions of the Ministry benefited. The Ministry also launched some systems to facilitate and accelerate the procedures for implementing and evaluating training programs to ensure quality and performance.

 Al Hinai pointed out that the Ministry employed 103 employees during the year 2023, including 78 employees with a permanent employment contract, and 25 experience house employees in the various divisions of the Ministry, and 97 percent of the technical jobs in the Ministry’s sectors were replaced.
