Muscat: ISC MKW beat ISWK Women’s convincingly by 9 wickets in the Finals of the Oman Cricket Women’s Domestic League 2023-24.
ISWK Women managed to score 100/5 in 20 overs put to bat first courtesy a 73-run stand by Shreya Suresh Prabhu scoring 39 and Akshada Gunasekar scoring 32. Merita Pinto picked 2 wickets while Sushama Shetty and Raksha Prabhakar bagged 1 wicket. In response, ISC MKW’s openers swash-buckled to the target as Priyanka Mendonca scored 47 and Trupti Pawde scored 34 remaining not out to take the team through with 28 balls to spare. Alifiya Sayed bagged the sole wicket.
Oman Cricket witnessed a record participation of 9 teams in the league this season through it’s Cricket4Her – Women’s Cricket Development Program. The teams were divided in two groups wherein ISWK Women’s topped Group A winning 3 out of 3 matches while ISC MKW won 4 out of 4 matches in Group B. OCA Women and PSM Women were the other teams qualified for the Semi Finals but lost to the finalists.
In the closing ceremony , Ms. Deepa Khimji – Women’s Cricket Committee Member, Oman Cricket presented the awards. The player of the match for the final was handed to ISC MKW’s skipper Priyanka Mendonsa. The league accolades starting with Best Batsman was Shreya Suresh Prabhu of ISWK Women’s scoring 185 runs in 5 innings, Best Bowler was Suranjie Dias of OCA Women’s picking 13 wickets in 5 innings and Best All-Rounder was adjudged to Priyanka Mendonca for scoring 172 runs and picking 8 wickets.
