Muscat: Omran Group is likely to invest $3 billion in a number of strategic tourism projects over the next five years in line with the objectives of the Oman Vision 2040.
Dr. Hashel bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group, said: "This comes as a continuation of the Group’s tireless efforts to develop the tourism sector infrastructure by working on sustainable tourism destinations for the diversification of income sources and to achieve economic growth."
He added that the Group’s success is represented by attracting approximately $2 billion in foreign investments to finance the most important strategic tourism projects, stressing the importance of the role played by the National Travel Operator’s platform to promote local tourism products and experiences and link them to the targeted markets to enhance the growth of inbound tourism.
Talking about the Group’s participation in the Berlin Travel and Tourism Exchange 2024; the CEO of Omran Group said the aim was to promote its current and future projects and showcase the available investment opportunities, in addition to contributing to tourism components of the Sultanate of Oman and attracting more tourists and investors.
He said that the efforts have led to a 38 percent increase in the number of tourist arrivals during 2023.
