Muscat:The Ministry of Economy on Wednesday organised a workshop on a matrix designed for evaluating and selecting development projects for the year 2025.
The workshop, which addressed representatives of government departments and institutions, was aimed at enhancing the efficiency of government spending and re-engineering the process of project implementation, especially economic diversification projects.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nasser Rashid Al Ma'awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, stressed the Ministry’s efforts to realise integration and communication between the Ministry of Economy and other government units.
The efforts focus on the efficiency of development spending to ensure the generation of high economic value and high social return from the liquidity allocated to various development projects, he explained.
Al Ma'awali added that the workshop highlights two main themes: 1) Explaining rules on drafting the development budget for year 2025, and 2) Introducing the new electronic system on designing the development budget.
During the workshop a display focusing on Budget 2025 was presented. It demonstrated that, acting in coordination with the relevant authorities, the Ministry of Economy was capable of drafting accurate and timely estimates of development spending ceiling for 2025.
Specialists from the “Government Projects Management and Follow-up Office” at the Tender Board gave a visual briefing on budget project implementation plan and local content.
The workshop also underscored efforts to secure the target social and economic impact needed to be consistent with the national priorities of Oman Vision 2040, the National Strategy for Urban Development and the strategic programmes of the 10th Five-Year Plan.
