Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a trough of a low system for three days from Friday, March 8, 2024 to Sunday, March 10, 2024, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
CAA said in its report that the latest analyses from the National Early Warning Center indicate the continuity of the effect of a trough of a low system over Sultanate of Oman toward Friday, March 8, 2024 to Sunday, March 10, 2024 .
Expected clouds advection and formation over most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman , with heavy to very heavy rain ( 30-150 mm ) as initial indications accompanied by active downdraft winds and hail causing very strong flow of wadis .
Sea wave expected height will vary from moderate to rough ( 2-3 meters ) along most of the coasts , with the blowing of southeasterly winds ( 15-25 knots ) over most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman .

Friday 8th March 2024 :
1- Varied intensity rainfall over Governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahira, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah (15-40 mm), occasionally thundershowers causing overflowing wadis and flashfloods.
2-Fresh downdraft with speed of ( 15 to 35 kt ).
Saturday 9th March 2024 :
1-The peak of the weather event with heavy to very rainfall over Governorates of Musandam , Al Buraimi , North Al Batinah , South Al Batinah , Muscat , Al Dhahira , Al Dakhiliyah , North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah ( 30 -150 mm ) , occasionally thundershowers causing extreme flow of wadis and flashfloods .
2- Isolated rain ( 15-25 mm ) , over Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates .
3-Fresh downdraft with speed of ( 15 to 45 kt ) .
Sunday 10th March 2024 :
1-Varied intensity rainfall over governorates of Al Buraimi , North Al Batinah South Al Batinah , Al Dhahira , Al Dakhylia , North Al Sharqiya and South Al Sharqiya ( 30-50 mm ) , occasionally thundershowers causing wadis and flashfloods .
2- Isolated rain ( 10-15 mm ) , over Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates.
3-Fresh downdraft with speed of ( 15 to 25 kt ).
The Civil Aviation Authority advises all to take precaution during the rains, overflowing wadis and during reduced visibility. Check the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports.
