Bank Muscat inaugurates Lightening Project for Al Afifa Sports Team in Sohar

MuscatBank Muscat, the leading financial service provider in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to celebrate the success of its Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in general and in supporting youth and Omani sports in particular. Recently, it celebrated the inauguration of the lighting project for Al Afifa Sports and Cultural Team in Sohar, North Al Batinah, within the Bank’s annual Green Sports Programme.

The event was patronized by Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, in the presence of Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Shizawi, Bank Muscat’s Regional Manager, Al Dhahira Branches, Abdullah bin Salim Al Gaithi, Head of Al Afifa Sports Team, and a number of invitees and team members.

During the ceremony, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Shizawi, Bank Muscat’s Regional Manager, Al Dhahira Branches, delivered a speech where he expressed his delight of the lightening project inaugurated for Al Afifa Team of Majees Sports and Cultural Club in Sohar. He said: “This project represents a great significance for the team members as they will be able to organize many evening events. I would like to congratulate the team’s management for the successful completion of the project”.

Al Shizawi stressed the Bank’s keenness to enhance local sports teams’ infrastructure and encourage young Omanis to organize various sports and cultural activities at all times. He confirmed that Bank Muscat will continue to implement the Green Sports programme and develop it to align with the updated requirements that serve local teams in all over the Sultanate.

On the occasion, Abdullah bin Salim Al Gaithi, Head of Al Afifa Sports Team, extended his thanks and appreciation to Bank Muscat for this annual initiative that support young talents and contribute to the development of sports teams in the Sultanate. He indicated that such projects are of a great importance to the youth as they provide them with a solid infrastructure to practice their favourite sports and hone their talents.

Bank Muscat has recently announced the launch of the Green Sports programme for 2024 where a number of 20 teams will be given the chance to develop their play yards in terms of natural and artificial greening of football pitches, water desalination and lighting. Being one of the important CSR initiatives, the Green Sport enhances entrepreneurship and partnership values and enables society members to develop their sporting skills and talents. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 183 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman.
