Muscat: The Omani Lawyers Association launched the 11th edition of the Fak Kurbah initiative which aims to collect financial donations to relieve the families of insolvent people due to claims incurred by them in civil, commercial, legal, or labor cases. It lasts for two months.
Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Zadjali, President of the Omani Lawyers Association, who supervises the Fak Kurbah Initiative, said that the 11th edition of the initiative for this year comes as a continuation of the efforts of those in charge of the initiative, including lawyers and it is an affirmation of the successes that the initiative has achieved over the past years. The initiative was able to release more than 5,890 cases from 2012 until now.
Al Zadjali added that the association, in its current version, is looking forward to broader participation from members of society, individuals and institutions, as the good people of this generous country are accustomed to, and to contributing to the return of hope to the needy and their families.
It is noteworthy that the Fak Kurbah initiative began in 2012 in its first edition, targeting five courts in the Sultanate of Oman, where 10 volunteer lawyers worked in them and contributed to the release of 44 insolvent prisoners. Last year, the number of insolvent persons included in the initiative in its tenth edition reached 925 people, through the efforts of a number of lawyers at the level of all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
