Muscat: A one thousand rial fine will be imposed on those distributing chewing tobacco (smokeless) as the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) amends Decision 256/2015.
The PACP issued a decision forbidding the distribution of chewing tobacco in Decision 256/2015 but have now issued an amendment to the decision.
PACP Decision 301/2016, article 1 states: “The statement in article 2 of Decision 256/2015 shall be replaced with the following: ‘An administrative fine of OMR 1000 shall be imposed on all those who violates the laws of this decision and shall be doubled if repeated.
If the violation persists, a fine of OMR 50 shall be imposed for everyday it continues until OMR 2000 is accumulated.
Chewing tobacco (smokeless) which had been confiscated by the PACP shall be destroyed according to standards.”
