Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the holding of a meeting of Palestinian factions in Moscow on Thursday and Friday, with the participation of all national forces and factions.
More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the conflict began.
In a statement on Saturday, the Oman’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the statement issued after the Moscow meeting, stressing the importance of building on the momentum of positive results to form a Palestinian national consensus government that guarantees comprehensive representation of all Palestinian factions in a way that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people at this crucial and critical historic stage.
Meanwhile, Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary General, also welcomed the statement issued by the Palestinian factions in Moscow.
The Secretary-General said: “The outcomes of the meeting are positive to begin with for unified political action, confirming the aspiration of the Palestinian factions to unify their ranks and form a government that includes all segments of Palestinian people in a way that serves their aspirations in light of the critical circumstances and current challenges that the region is going through.”
He stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries support all results and solutions that serve the Palestinian cause and guarantee the national rights of the Palestinian people.
The Foreign Ministry also condemned the brutal attack in which the Israeli occupation forces targeted unarmed Palestinian citizens who were waiting to receive food supplies in northern Gaza that resulted in deaths of dozens of martyrs and injury to many others.
The Foreign Ministry said that these systematic criminal acts by the occupation forces are a clear violation of all international and humanitarian norms and laws, and are nothing but a continuation of the policy of extermination pursued by the Israeli forces towards the Palestinian people.
Oman calls on the international community to intervene urgently to put an end to the tragic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and to hold the occupying state responsible for its targeting of civilians.
