Chairperson of OHRC receives a delegation from British Parliament

Muscat: Prof. Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi, Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission, received a delegation from the British group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the work of the Oman Human Rights Commission, its system, its role in following up on international reports, monitoring them, verifying the information contained therein, coordinating with the relevant authorities to respond to them, and the role of the Commission in promoting and protecting human rights.

For its part, the British parliamentary delegation said that the work of the Oman Human Rights Commission is similar to the Equality and Human Rights Commission concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights in the United Kingdom, which is accredited to the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) at status (A). teh delegation expressed its readiness to enhance cooperation with the OHRC on topics related to human rights.
