Muscat: The grid-connected solar photovoltaic power station project and the high-accuracy nursing simulation laboratory project were opened at the University of Buraimi, under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.
The first project aims to provide a source of clean, sustainable energy and better use of financial resources, as it consists of 30 arrays of solar panels divided into two areas, while the number of solar panels reached 2,400, on an area estimated at 10,500 square metres.
Yousef bin Abdul Rahim Al Farsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Buraimi University, said: The production capacity of the photovoltaic power generation station connected to the electrical grid is estimated at 1.5 megawatts of solar energy, adding that the university is in the process of establishing an electric car charging station as part of its contribution to achieving environmental sustainability.
As for the high-accuracy nursing simulation laboratory project, advanced technologies are used to accurately imitate patients’ conditions and responses, by allowing students to practice in a controlled environment.
This project targets students of different educational levels in the field of nursing, from beginners to advanced practitioners, as the project will contribute to providing learning experiences that are similar and close to reality, improving clinical decision-making skills, analytical and critical thinking, and enhancing confidence, communication, and teamwork among students.
The project consists of a control room, a simulation room, an evaluation and review area, and the technical contents of the laboratory, in addition to monitoring vital life signs, fluid management, reactive responses, airway management, medication administration, scenario customization, and remote control.
