Bank Muscat inaugurates lightening project for Al Shabab Sports Team in Saham

MUSCAT: In commitment to its continuous support to the Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) and dedication to serving the youth and society, Bank Muscat, the leading financial service provider in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to implement the annual Green Sports programme across the Sultanate. The Bank has recently inaugurated a lighting project for Al Shabab Sports and Cultural team in Saham, North Al Batinah. The event was patronized by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Ali Al Balushi, a member of the Shura Council, Saham, with the presence of Hamed bin Saleh Al Mamari, Bank Muscat’s branch manager, Saham Heights, Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Bureiki, Head of Al Shabab Sports team, and a number of invitees and team members.

On the inauguration ceremony, Hamed bin Saleh Al Mamari, Branch Manager, Bank Muscat’s branch, Saham Heights, expressed his happiness about the successful execution of Al Shabab Sports team’s lightening project as part of the “Green Sports” programme. Hamed Al Mamari congratulated Al Shabab Sports team for the successful completion of the project which will contribute to developing the main infrastructure of the team and supporting various sports events and activities. The field will also represent a suitable venue for the team to launch events in the evening and to organize different cultural and sports activities contributing to the enhancement of their sports skills. Furthermore, a large segment of the Omani youth with different age groups are keen to join the events related to the sports and social arenas. Bank Muscat will remain committed to serving the youth through its CSR programme “Green Sports” to keep pace with the advancements conducive to the growth of the Omani youth and sports teams all over the Sultanate.

Speaking on the occasion, Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Bureiki, Head of Al Shabab Sports and Cultural team, said:” I would like to take this opportunity to extend my appreciation to Bank Muscat for the continuous support to enhancing the Green Sports” programme. This programme represents a major social initiative for developing the youth’s talents and sports teams in the Sultanate. The fields of local sports teams constitute strategic and convenient areas to organize various sports and cultural events and activities. Therefore, the new lighting project of Al Shabab Sports team was the dream of the Omani youth while it has now become a reality granting team an ample opportunity to enhance their talents and sports potential through hosting multiple sports and cultural events, activities, and competitions in the evening.”

Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programmes in Oman, which provides support to local sports teams as part of the Bank’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure and green spaces throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The support includes greening of football pitches, water desalination and lighting. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 183 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman.

Since its inception in 2012, the Green Sports programme reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to providing ample opportunities for young Omanis to develop their talents. It goes a long way in developing the sporting skills and talents of Omani youth, thereby leading to all-round development of the sport. It is worth mentioning that the football fields developed as part of the Green Sports programme serve as a gathering venue for social activities for both children and youth.
