OHRC concludes participation in 53rd meeting of Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights

Muscat: The delegation of the Omani Human Rights Commission, headed by Minister Plenipotentiary Aqeel bin Alawi Baomar, concluded its participation in the fifty-third meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, whose activities were held in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the participation of member states of the League of Arab States and Arab National Institutions concerned with human rights.

At the conclusion of its work, the meeting recommended condemning the ongoing crimes of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, expanding its aggression towards other Arab countries, targeting tens of thousands of civilians, subjecting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip to a deadly siege that cuts off the means of life, and the systematic destruction of residential neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, universities, mosques, churches, and infrastructure with the intention to make the Gaza Strip a scorched, unviable land in light of the hate speech, racism, and incitement adopted by the Israeli occupation government.

The meeting also welcomed the launch of the “Arab Forum for National Mechanisms for Implementation, Reporting, and Follow-up” to promote cooperation, partnership, and exchange of experiences and best practices related to the work of these mechanisms in all Arab countries.

In addition, at the conclusion of its work, the meeting called for enhancing working on the plan implementing the Arab strategy for human rights in cooperation and consultation with those who are concerned with human rights issues at both the national and regional levels in the Arab Region.

The OHRC’s delegation included Dr. Jamal bin Eid Al Khaduri, OHRC member, Mrs. Labiba bint Muhammad Al Ma’awliyah, OHRC member, and Salem bin Khalfan Al Rushdi, Head of the Media Department at the Omani Human Rights Commission.
