Oman Open Tennis Championship competitions reach decisive stage

Muscat: The Oman Open Tennis Championship competitions reached the decisive stage after stiff competition in the past few days among 130 participants from the joiner, Men's, women's and veterans at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

In the men's singles category, Italian player Gampaolo won over the Syrian player Joma 6-1, 7-5 in under men's 50 category and qualified for the quarter-finals.

In the mixed doubles quarter-finals, Oche and Anaam Al-Mas won over the doubles pair Jacqueline and Sunday As 6-3 and 6-2.

In the under 14 boys, Waleed Al Hasmi defeated Anas Vays 6-1 and 6-2. In the 18-year-old boys category, Advey Kapoor advanced to the quarter-finals by beating Manraj 7-6 (3-6, 10-7). Four-year-old Sivan defeated Ratish Andak 6-0 and 6-0 and the Lebanese team Faten defeated Turkish player Serpil 6-1 and 6-1.

Mohammed Al Falahi, the assistant general referee, said that the OTA tournament commenced amidst much anticipation and excitement. With top players showing their prowess on the courts, the tournament has unfolded into a spectacle of skill , determination and sportsmanship

Despite encountering a few setbacks in the form of minor injuries to some players in the men's draw, the resilience and professionalism of players and organisers have ensured seamless continuation of the event.

"It is imperative to extend my gratitude to the Oman Tennis Federation for entrusting me with the responsibility of organising and officiating this prestigious tournament," said Mohammed Al Falahi.
