The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has issued its first book

Last Thursday, February 15th, witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the university's first book titled "Strategies for Business Transformation- Accelerators for Sustainable Growth." The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al- Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and in the presence of Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the university branch in Salalah, Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al-Bimani, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the university branch in Al-Mussanah,, his Deputies, authors, academics, and interested individuals.

The ceremony included a welcome speech by Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al-Bimani, welcoming the attendees and praising the distinguished role played by the university and its affiliates in the field of scientific research, among other areas. Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, Head of the Business Studies Department at the university branch in Al-Mussanah, presented a visual overview of the university's first book and the most important upcoming research projects.

This book aims to support the prominent priority of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on sustainable national economy and establishing effective, balanced, and strong systems. In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, the need for institutions to adapt and transform is more important than ever. This transformation should ensure a balance between economic, environmental, and social requirements according to the principles of sustainable development outlined in Oman Vision 2040.

One of the notable features of this edition is its issuance with the international standard number registered under the name of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, making it the first registered edition as intellectual property under the name of the university's. The university owns all copyrights, and the edition includes digital identifiers for the book to ensure easy access for interested parties and proper documentation for easier impact assessment. The issuance of the book with the mentioned features has led to achieving several expected impacts during the preparation and post-publication period, including enhancing the academic and research capabilities of the university, building scientific capacities in research, expanding cooperation with researchers inside and outside the Sultanate, opening new avenues for cooperation with the industrial community in preparing research and applied studies, and benefiting from the scientific material produced and registered under the name of the university in the study plans for courses related to the book.

The editors of the book emphasized that prioritizing the editing and authoring of books in higher education institutions is one of the most important tasks of educational and cultural institutions in the local community to ensure the achievement of the goals of higher education outlined in Oman Vision 2040.

It is worth mentioning that the book consists of fifteen chapters covering various fields such as accounting, human resource management, digital marketing, education, industrial sustainability, with a total of 29 authors, nine of whom are Omani and 20 are international.

In this regard, His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al- Rubaie, the first editor of the book, emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to create a stimulating environment for collaborative scientific and knowledge research among various researchers inside and outside the Sultanate. Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, the second editor of the book, mentioned that the issuance of the first book will encourage researchers and students at the university to publish upcoming books with distinguished scientific content, contributing to the development of national research capabilities.

Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, the third editor of the book, added the importance of encouraging university affiliates to register various intellectual properties and protect them with appropriate intellectual property protection tools such as copyrights, neighboring rights, utility models, and others, to enhance scientific publishing and innovation indicators. This edition represents one of the important examples of intellectual properties deposited under the name of the university.

She concluded by disclosing upcoming research projects, including preparations for a conference on artificial intelligence and business development, and inviting researchers and authors to participate in the authoring of upcoming specialized scientific books to be published in collaboration with international institutions such as Taylor & Francis and Springer Nature, with titles such as "The Importance of Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Business Sustainability and Utilizing Technology to Build the Future" and "Digital Transformation in Customs and Taxes as an Economic Growth Stimulus."
